Painted plein air near Bridlington RAF Lissett was used during WW2 as an
airbase. The airfield is now farmers field. I met an old farmer who
remembered as a boy watching the battle of Britain above his head. He
described the scene as if he was there yesterday. Wind turbines now cover
the fields which inspired the reference to propeller props seen in the painting.
